Thomas passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 77 years. Thomas was born in Bay City on June 23, 1942. On June 26, 1961 he married the former Marie Kusterer at Visitation Catholic Church and were married for 58 years. Thomas was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and transferred to St. Mary's Church - Our Lady of Peace Parish. He owned and operated Metro Fabricating for many years until retiring in 2001. Thomas was an entrepreneur receiving many awards and also a member of the Eagles Club. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking, the outdoors, playing hockey in his younger years and spending time with his family.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Lawrence "Larry" (Debbie) Willard; daughter, Amy (Mark) Lyday; grandchildren, Anne Schroeder, Thomas (Kristy) Moore, Zach (Leanne) Willard, Liz (Jake) Ohnstad, Jacob, Emily and Parker Lyday; great grandchildren, Andrew Schroeder, Matthew and Riley Moore, Bentley and Mason Willard and Claire Ohnstad; brother, Robert (Florence) Willard; sister, Kay King and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Willard and sister, Nancy Willard.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. John Sarge with interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
