Timothy "Tim" Mark Hughes

Tim passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his residence with his family by his side, at the age of 75. The son of the late Robert Leo and Dorothy Verna (Clutter) Hughes was born May 11, 1949 in Bay City, Michigan. Tim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for 20 years. During his time of service, he toured in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon his return home to the U.S., he served at the White House. After retiring from the Marines, he went on to work for Bay City Public Schools as an attendance supervisor at T.L. Handy Middle School. He had a great love for his family and was a member of the American Legion.

Left to cherish Tim’s memories are his wife, the former Patricia Zielinski, whom he married January 19, 1974; his 3 sons, Chad (Heidi) Hughes, Bradley (Amanda) Hughes and Justin (Lynnsay) Hughes; his grandchildren, Madalyn, Caleb, Ryan, Aven, Elsie, Connor, Mason, Landon and Finley; his brothers, Tom (Nancy) Hughes and Bill (Janet) Hughes; his sisters-in-law, Sherry (Richard) Keeler and Barbara Adamski; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Hughes; his sister-in-law, Mary Jo Hughes; and his brother-in-law, Ed Adamski.

Visitation will take place on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Military Honors taking place at 6:00 p.m. Tim will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
