Tony Joseph Gay (42) of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 16th, 2024. Tony left behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and compassion. He was a devoted animal-lover, a passionate game enthusiast, and a dedicated advocate for children with special needs.
Tony was born on October 27, 1981, in Flint, Michigan to Tony Gay and Jenifer Johnson. He graduated from Whittemore-Prescott High School in 2000 and went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Mott Community College.
Tony’s career of working with special needs children was not only his passion but it truly defined his life. He devoted countless hours to making a positive impact on their lives, providing support, encouragement, and love. His patience, understanding, and dedication earned him the admiration of colleagues, parents, and, most importantly, the children he worked with.
In his free time, Tony had a passion for games, especially “Magic: The Gathering” and “Dungeons and Dragons”. His enthusiasm for games was contagious. He cherished the connections and friendships formed around a new game, always eager to share his love of play with others. His kindness, compassionate heart, laughter, and competitive spirit brought so much joy to his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Tony was preceded in death by his father (Tony Gay), George Ursuy (Grandfather), Donna Campeau (Grandmother), Earl Gay (Grandfather), MaryLou (Grandmother). He is survived by his mom, Jenifer Johnson, his step-father, Robert Johnson, his sister Tara Gay (Curt), his brother Torin McKay, and his brother Rob Johnson (Beth), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends, who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at Gephart Funeral Home on June 23rd, 2024 to celebrate Tony's life. The visitation will be held from 12pm to 3pm with the memorial service beginning at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Bay County (link), reflecting Tony's heart for animals.
Tony's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him, and his spirit of kindness, joy, and compassion won’t be forgotten.
