Valerie K. Schweiss

Valerie Schweiss passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Bay City Comfort Care with her family by her side at the age of 90. Valerie was born in Owosso, MI on August 23, 1934 to the late Delbert and Dorothy (Goodrich) Huff. She was a graduate from Michigan State University and was a devoted member of Grace Church West. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and a fantastic friend to all who knew her. Valerie enjoyed birdwatching, dogs, being in nature and most of all, spending time with her family.

 Valerie is survived by her five children, Tom Schweiss (Carolyn), Mike Schweiss (Kim), Kathy Rewers (Tony), Ann Garfinkel (Jeff) and Barb DesRosiers. She had nine grandchildren: Anthony, Allison, Maria, Matthew, Luke, Valerie, Flora, Zachary and Julia; two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Valerie is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard Schweiss; daughter, Mary Ann; and son-in-law, Marc DesRosiers.

 At the request of Valerie, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Grace Church West (4267 2 Mile Rd, Bay City, MI 48706). Officiating will be Pastor Eric Kieb. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be considered to donor’s favorite charity.
