Van Irby Jr. Essexville, Michigan Our beloved father and grandfather passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Bay Medical Care Facility at the age of 85 years. Van proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retired from General Motors Co Bay City Powertrain and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading. Left to cherish his memories are three children; Mary Irby of Essexville, Jean Clare Essexville and her special friend Roger Reid of Caro and Tom and Shelly Irby of Muskegon, six grandchildren; Aimee Clare, David Clare and John Clare, Felicia Bisson, Kyle Irby and Kevin Irby and one great grandchild; Adelynn Bisson. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth and one brother; Robert Irby. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone on 3-east at Bay Medical Care Facility for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mr. Irby during the time they cared for him. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Charles Campbell followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the United States Air Force. Private interment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday to receive visitors from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Arc of Bay County.
