Julian, Vern E. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Julian passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 22, 2014 at his residence at the age of 74 years. He was born September 29, 1939 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Vern was a active member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, retired from the Bay City Public School District as an educator and an administrator. He enjoyed biking, woodturning, golfing and speed skating. Vern also enjoyed his time spent with the Class of 1957 breakfast club and volunteering at the Division on Aging. He is survived by his wife Carol, his children Dennis (Tammy) Julian, Greg (Molly) Julian, Jim (Leslie) Julian and Bill (Katie) Julian all of Traverse City, Sue (Steve) Finkbeiner of Bay City, one step daughter: Anne Marie (Brian) Kostus of Rockford, grandchildren; Tyler and Stacie Finkbeiner, Christian, Cole, Lauren, Lily and Betsy Julian, three step grandchildren; Cameron, Lauren and Kade Kostus, his father-in-law; Martin Glysz of Bay City, one brother ; Ralph (Julie) Julian of Bay City, three sisters; Carol (Ken) Toth of Linwood, Nancy (Al) Stender of Auburn and Diane Julian of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Vern and Sophie (Listvan) Julian and his Godson, Michael R. Toth. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be Celebrated Monday February 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Fillion with private Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, MI. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Julian will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for the Division on Aging or the American Cancer Society will be available.
