Vic said goodbye on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 84 years to happily be reunited with his wife Shirley Ann to renew the memory of his marriage to her. They were married on November 2, 1957 and were married for 60 years until her passing on December 8, 2017. Victor was born in Bay City on June 24, 1935 to the late Adolph and Lydia (Appold) Begick. He graduated from T.L. Handy High School and was a member of St. Paul A.C. Baseball Club where he won 4 consecutive championships from 1954-1957. He served his country in the National Guard. Vic was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He worked for forty six years and retired in 2000 from Rowley Brothers. Vic loved to play baseball and fast pitch softball and was inducted in the Bay City Sports Hall Of Fame in 2008 for hockey. He also umpired fast pitch softball in Bay City and baseball in the Northeastern league. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time up north. He especially loved brook trout fishing, deer and turkey hunting with his family. He bowled for forty consecutive years at Bay Lanes on Thursday nights. Vic enjoyed spending time at his camp in Barton City. He loved his dogs and cats and had many over the years.
Vic is survived by his children who he loved dearly and was very proud of, Douglas (Julie), Manny (Jeana Dreps), Darby (Mark) Perkins, Kelly (Fred) Haas and Ryanne (Chad Searles) Lipinski; grandchildren, Nicholas (Katy), Benjamin, Christopher, Magdalen, Andrea, Drew, Michael (Kristin) and Katy; great grandchildren, Alexandria, Emily and Charleigh Haas and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Norbert, Raymond and Elmer.
At the request of Vic, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Caretel and Dr. Kerr for the wonderful care they gave to Vic.
