Viola A. Berger

Berger, Viola A. Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Berger passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at St. Francis Home in Saginaw at the age of 95 years. The daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Reinhardt) Kernstock was born May 19, 1918 in Auburn, Michigan. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and a charter member of the Friendship Circle. She worked for many years at Berger's Restaurant as a waitress and Deputy Treasurer of Frankenlust Township. She is survived by one daughter: Karen J. Berger of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; Rollan and Deborah (Dashner) Berger of Bay City, her grandchildren: Todd L. Scharich, Christy L. (Jason) Swartz, Sharon (Drew) Wills, two great grandchildren: Hayden and Cadance Swartz, her sisters: Alvina Walter and Luetta Walter, one sister-in-law; Jane Berger one brother-in-law; Russell Schmidt and her best friend; Verna Kernstock and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; John R. Berger, her sister, her brothers-in-law and her sisters-in-law; Esther and Don Kesemeyer, Oscar Walter, Alvin Walter, Nelson Berger, Marion Schmidt, Lorena Garner, Bertha Berger and Norman Berger. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with interment following in the Church Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Berger will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
