Walter J. Grusecki Bay City, Michigan Our loving husband, father, grandfather, "Papa", great-grandfather and friend died April 29, 2012 at the age of 88. Walt was born in Standish, on February 23, 1924 to Frank & Mary (Balka, Obolewcz) Grusecki. He was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, and a lifetime member of the Bay County Home Builders Association. Walter served with the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in Okinawa, Japan and Occupational Forces in Korea and he was a member of VFW Post #6950. His past memberships included the KofC #414, Moose Lodge #169 and Elks Lodge #88. His passions were bowling and an avid golfer, finally getting a "hole in one" to top his career in 2006. On September 28, 1946 Walter married Veronica "Ronnie" Coupie who survives him along with their children, James (Paula) of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Cathy) of Silsbee, TX, Dennis of Belleville, MI, Rich (Lori) of Glendale, AZ, Michael (Doralyn), Dale (Michelle) and M.J. "Mary Jo" (Jeffrey) Seward all of Bay City; 16 grandchildren, James, Thomas (Toni), Jennifer (Andre`) Jennings, Robert (Stephanie), Mark, Shawn (Jaime), Merritt, Travis, Amanda (Bill) Parish, Aaron, Samantha, Sara, Joshua, Jared, Jenna and Tiffany Seward; 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Barney, Dominick and Frank; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy. The funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00am on Saturday May 5, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Meissner. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00pm. On Friday, Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council at 2:00pm and the Vigil for the Deceased will begin at 7:30pm. Mr. Grusecki will lie instate at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until time of service.
