Our loving husband, father and grandfather went to his heavenly home Friday evening May 27, 2016 at his residence in Bay City, Michigan. Age 90 years. The son of the late Edwin and Anna (Ittner) Schuchardt was born on January 18, 1926 in Bay County and has resided here all of his life. He was a faithful member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church and proudly served his Country in the United States Army. Walt retired from the CSX Railroad, he was an avid gardener and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. Left behind to cherish his memories are is loving wife; the former Noreen Rahn, one daughter and son-in-law; Kay and Joseph Grudzinski of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; Daniel and Paula Schuchardt of Bay City, seven grandchildren; Kevin and Michelle Cliff, Kristy and Brent Emler, Michael Leinberger and his special friend; Rebecca Evans, Jeremy Schuchardt, Caleb Schuchardt, Jenna Grudzinski and her fiancé; James Christensen and Jade Grudzinski, four great grandchildren; Ethan Cliff, Ava and Isaac Emler and Owen Leinberger, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Howard and Doris Rahn, Nancy and Mark Anderson, Rose Marie Rahn, Rose Mary Rahn, Joann Rahn and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Edwin and Anna he was preceded in death by one grandson; Joshua Schuchardt, one brother; Arthur Schuchardt and three sisters; Elsie Spencer, Mary Huber and Esther Huber. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at McLaren Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Walt during the time they cared for him and to Jodi and Tom for always being there. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Andrew Lindke. Members of the United States Army and the Bay County Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors following the services and private interment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive visitors on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Schuchardt will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church.
