Wanda passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 74 years. She was born on February 26, 1945 in Bay City to the late Elmer and Roseanna (Moore) Getyina. Wanda graduated from TL Handy High School in 1963 and was a former member of TL Handy Pride. On January 26, 1965 she married James Gies at Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City. Together they spent 43 years together until he passed away on September 10, 2008. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, playing BINGO and spending time with her grandsons, nieces and nephews.
Wanda is survived by her sons, James Jr. and William Gies; grandsons, Aaron and Jared Gies; sisters and brother, Sandy Odell, Rose (Dennis) Todd, Marty (Julie) Getyina and Val (Larry) Rocheleau; brother and sister-in-law, Don (Willie) Gies and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was also preceded in death by her son, Jody Charles Gies; brother, Elmer Getyina Jr.; sister, Liz Stagray; brother-in-law, Bart Odell; nephew, Donnie Gies; father and mother-in-law, William and Laura Gies.
Funeral and Committal service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Jon Essex with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
