Wilfredo M. "Fred" Rodriguez, a spirited soul born on January 7, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, departed this world unexpectedly on September 2, 2024, in Bay City, Michigan. Fred's life was one of vibrant connections, where he found joy in every interaction and a profound appreciation for the simple beauty of patriotism, often saluting flags and sharing peace signs with passersby. His passion for life was evident in his outgoing nature, as he effortlessly struck up conversations with everyone he met, and started the conversation with "Every day above ground is a good day" and ended the conversation with  " If you cant be good be good at it".

Fred poured his heart into his work as a Direct Care worker, a role that brought him immense fulfillment. Throughout his career, he embraced various jobs, but it was the impact he made in this capacity that resonated most profoundly with him. He was not just a caretaker but a beacon of support and compassion for those around him.

In his military service with the U.S. Army, Fred earned his GED, showcasing his commitment to self-improvement and service. His dedication to his country was matched only by his love for family. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife, Linda F. Rodriguez, and proudly raised two sons, Wilfredo and Manuel. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren — Alexis, Wilfredo III, Manuel IV, and Sadee Rodriguez — each of whom carries a piece of his spirit.

Fred had a playful side, indulging in sports and competition. His enthusiasm for playing Frisbee, watching all kinds of sports, and engaging in spirited board game battles revealed a joyous spirit that was lively and infectious. A highlight of his youth was serving as the Bat Boy for the Detroit Tigers during the 1968 World Series, an experience that reflected both his love for the game and the deep pride he felt for his hometown team.

Surrounded by the love of his family, which includes his brothers and sisters, Fred's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings, while he will be warmly remembered alongside his parents, Manuel and Maria Rodriguez, who have crossed before him.

A visitation will be held on September 7, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with Military honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and U.S. Army at 2:00 p.m. A Funeral service  will take place at 5:00 PM at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. conducted by E.J. Brown. As friends and family gather to celebrate Fred’s life, they will undoubtedly share laughter and stories that capture the essence of a man who loved deeply, connected genuinely, and lived patriotically. Fred's spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
