Wilhelmina Marie Jane

Wilhelmina Marie Jane fell into a deep sleep, to be awaken by a host of family and friends in their loving embrace at the pearly gates of heaven on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Wilhelmina was the fourth of eleven children born to the late Marion and Elizabeth (Adamowski) Jane, on June 20, 1940. Wilhelmina, affectionately called Willie, graduated from John Glenn High School in 1958. She then attended Bay City Community College where she received her associates degree. Willie was a woman of many talents which showed in her resume of employments from a waitress, to a teacher, to a nurse’s assistant, until she found her lifelong calling as a Central Supply Aide and union stewardess at McLaren Hospital (FKA Bay Medical Center Hospital). After dedicating fifteen years, she retired to live out her golden years with her best friend, confidant and “sister she never had” (in her words respectfully) Cecelia Soderquist, who preceded her in death on February 25, 2016.

Willie was an avid bowler for many years, had a passion for arts and crafts where she loved to work with yarn making rugs, crocheting and knitting, enjoyed quiet days putting jigsaw puzzles together and she never missed a day watching Jeopardy. Willie was strong willed and stubborn at times, but truly had an enormous heart of gold. She was a faithful supporter of St. Labre and the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, where she was a devoted monthly contributor.

Willie was welcomed in heaven by her parents, Marion and Elizabeth Jane; two brothers, Issac and Thomas Jane; three sisters, Alice Bethke, Barbara Telfor and Mary Jane and her lifelong friend Cecelia Soderquist. Left to cherish her on earth are three sisters, Betty (Richard) Reed, Patricia (Kenneth) Hendricks and Jacqueline (Donald) Ware; one brother, Paul (Patricia) Jane; special friend affectionally referred to as “my girl”, Jessica Sequin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
