Mr. Staudacher passed away early Thursday morning April 3, 2014 at his residence at the age of 97 years.  Bill was born April 2, 1917 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life.  He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, retired from C & O Railroad, he played hockey for the Bay City American's Hockey Team and also coached the team for many years and was inducted in the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame.  Bill was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching Detroit Tiger Baseball, Red Wings, the Lions, fishing and a good game of horse shoes.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Aleutian Island of Alaska.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law; David and Celia Staudacher of Auburn and Daniel Staudacher of Bay City, two grandchildren; Matthew Staudacher and Christopher Staudacher and many nieces and nephews.  On September 30,1951 he married the former Colleen Maquet in Zion Lutheran Church officiating was his brother Rev. Raymond Staudacher and she preceded him in death on February 26, 2013.  Mr. Staudacher was also preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Barbara (Wegener) Staudacher, four brothers and his sisters-in-law; Carl and Della Staudacher, Edgar and June Staudacher, Rev. Raymond and Gladys Staudacher, Louis and Ilene Staudacher, three sisters and his brothers-in-law; Helen and Bob Fetting, Wilma and Bob Fitteng and Adeline "Babe" AND Frank Kudrow.
A Memorial Service will take place Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.  Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private Inurnment in Fremont Cemetery. At the request of Mr. Staudacher cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. and until the time of service.  Memorial cards will be available for Zion Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
