William "Bill" Stevenson, age 72, passed away on October 19, 2018 in Bay City, Michigan. Bill was born in Bay City, Michigan to Andrew and Charlotte Stevenson on October 15, 1946. He went to school at Bay City Central High School, class of 1964. Also received his bachelor's degree at Central Michigan University. He served in the Army as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged in 1968. He married Pam (Smith) Stevenson on August 2, 1975 at Visitation Church. He worked for General Motors in Bay City for 33 years (retired).
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Ashly, and his in-law's Lawrence and Harriet Smith. Bill is survived by his wife, Pam, his daughter Natalie Stevenson, brothers Andrew (Wes) Stevenson and Robert Stevenson, his grandchildren Shane and Kyle Enser, Nick and Jacob Stevenson, and Macala Roznowski, and 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and kayaking. He was a hunter and a fisherman. He was always biking or jogging in town. He loved traveling to the national parks and photographing the natural beauty. He loved cooking and entertaining for friends and family, and his love for all of these things showed in his daily life.
Memorial service will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday October 27, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. with military honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Bay City State Recreation Area, where he volunteered as a naturalist/interpreter for many years, and helped develop several programs.
