William "Bud" Henry Holtzapple

William Henry "Bud" Holtzapple passed away early Thursday morning November 27, 2014 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Age 89 years. He was born January 7, 1925 in Montpelier, Indiana and has resided in Bay County most of his life. Bud was formerly employed at Aetna Cement Plant, retired from Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw as a welder and taught Jewelry making, Silversmithing and Lapidary at Delta College for over twenty three years. He was the founder of Showcase Jewelry and B & T Rock Shop in Bay City and semi-retired after 41 years. Mr. Holtzapple proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On September 4, 1943 he married the former Marian (Toni) Geiersbach and she survives his passing and they recently celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary. He is also survived by two sons; William R. Holtzapple and his wife Chong-Cha of Kawkawlin, Robert L. Holtzapple and his wife Judy Sayles of Bridgeport, two grandchildren; Kristene and Matt Kiely and Karina Holtzapple, two great granddaughters; Kiara and Riana Kiely and two great grandsons; Jesse and Cooper Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Ines (Foreman) Holtzapple, one brother; Marion Holtzapple and two sisters; Wanda Smith and Wilma Pitt. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Leslie D. Tyvela with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon and until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the donor's favorite charity.
