Bill passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at the home of his daughter in Sanford, MI. The son of the late William H. and Helen (Worden) DeCatur was born April 23, 1927 in Bay City. Bill was retired as a plumbing and heating contractor. He was a former member and commander of American Legion Post #404 in Harrison, MI and transferred his membership to American Legions Post # 18 in Bay City, MI, a life member of D.A.V. Post 404 in Lake Station, MI. Bill enjoyed bowling, dancing, watching T.V. and doing puzzles. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years the former Marion H. Day whom he married July 22, 1983. Also surviving are his children and their spouses; Dennis and Roberta DeCatur, William and Tammy DeCatur, David and Barb DeCatur, Judith Piteau and Donald and Debbie DeCatur, three step children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister, brothers and their spouses; Louise and Bill Everitt, Ronald and Karen DeCatur and Stephen DeCatur, his sister-in-law; Mary DeCatur, his special friend; Melvin Brewer.In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Robert DeCatur, Allan DeCatur and Gary DeCatur. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Inc. Officiating will be his brother Ronald DeCatur. Burial and Military Honors will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11: 00 a.m. at Great Lakes Cemetery in Holly, MI. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday to greet family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
