Mr. William 'Bill' Kilborn Knott, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, MI, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, following heart surgery. A widely revered American poet and artist, he was born on February 17, 1940. Bill Knott received his MFA from Norwich University and taught for many years at Emerson College in Boston. In addition to numerous self-published volumes, Bill Knott's poetry collections include The Naomi Poems, Book One: Corpse and Beans (1968), Becos (1983), Outremer, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize (1988), Laugh at the End of the World: Collected Comic Poems 1969-1999 (2000), The Unsubscriber (2004), and Stigmata Errata Etcetera (2007). He is survived by a sister, Marjory Joy (Knott) Foley, of Mt. Holly, North Carolina. Arrangements are under the care of the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.
