William L. Powell

Mr. William L. "Bill" Powell, of Bay City, passed away peacefully at his home on December 8, 2016 at the age of 83 years with his family and friends at his side. The son of the late Charles William and Mildred (Kramer) Powell was born on May 27, 1933 in Lowell, Michigan. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Bay City Fire Dept. after 32 years of service. He was active in local politics as chairman of the Bay County Republican Party. He served as trustee on Monitor Township Board of Trustees and also served as Bay County Commissioner for ten years. Bill served on the Bay Arenac Behavioral Health Board for twenty five years and on the Bay City Metropolitan Transit Authority Board of Directors.
On April 4, 1959 he married the former Laurene C. Dittenbir and she survives his passing. Also left behind to cherish his memories is one daughter; Susan Powell-Glover, one son and daughter-in-law; Charles and Jennifer Powell, two grandchildren; Jenna and William (Billy) Powell and one brother; Charles (Carolyn) Powell, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son-in-law; Curtis Glover, three sisters; Audrey, Thelma and Ethel, one brother; Elwood.
At the request of Mr. Powell cremation has taken place and there are no services being planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial contribution to: AuCaDo Australian Cattle Dog Rescue, 3861 12 Mile Road, Remus, MI 49340.
