VanGuilder, William L. of Bay City, Michigan. Mr. VanGuilder passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Brian's House. Age 83 years. The son of the late Franklin and Violet (Cook) VanGuilder was born on November 17, 1926 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. In 1950 he married the former Mary Motko and she survives his passing. William served in the United States Navy during WW II and retired from Dow Corning in Midland after 38 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bill enjoyed woodworking, boating and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary, six children, William Jr., Jean (Mark) Bartlett, Mark (Linda), Linda (Terry) Prior, Sue (Don) Mueller, Bob (Jackie), five grandchildren; Jamie Thompson and her friend Ron, Terry "Buddy" Prior, Kristy (Chris) Prior, Kody VanGuilder and Matt (Heather) Mueller, six great grandchildren; Chelsea and Michael Mason, Jason and Justin Prior, Kaylee Prior, Alexis Smerdon, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Ruth VanGuilder, Frances Pudvan, Beverly (John) Sullivan and Eugene (Jackie) Motko, special cousin Narcy Bahm and special nephew; Fred "Bud" (Alice) Gillam and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Duane and Marvin, two sisters; Lorna Lewis and Doris Mundy, brother-in-law; Francis Pudvan and his best buddy Richard "Dick" Bahm. Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12:00 O'Clock Noon at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc 201 W. Midland St. Officiating will be Pastor Dorla D. Talaga with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. and until the time of services. In lieu of flowers those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Brian's House or the Helen M. Nickless volunteer clinic.
